Simpar is an interactive tool designed for planning and optimizing TV/FM broadcasting networks. Simpar has been developped for RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana Spa the italian TV/Radio Broadcasting public network. Simpar implements in a new and powerful way the models for estimating the radio electrical field distribution and cross interferences. The electrical field is computed taking in account several propagation models: diffraction, troposcattering, super-refraction and tropospheric ducting over the sea. To estimate the diffraction loss Simpar may use a DTM with neither limits of extension nor resolution: currently for italian territory has been used a model with a land pixel sized about 230m. Simpar may import several DTM formats including GTOPO30 and DTED format. Simpar may evaluate cross-interference computing Signal/Interference Ratio maps. Simpar has a powerful built-in GIS-like visualization engine. Terrain profiles. Optical view areas. Coverage areas. Advanced functions: Cross-interference evaluation (Signal/Interference Ratio) areas. Spectral statistics. Quality areas (per network combination of S/I areas). Reports and statistics (Coverage maps in terms of territory and population percentage, interference statistics). |
